To book the Sugar Pear Cottage:
Make sure you let Duane & Anna Mae know that Covered in Sunshine sent you! :)
The Sugar Pear Cottage is so absolutely beautiful that it needed it's own little photoshoot of just the outside of the cottage too! If this is what this cottage looks like in the cold, late March, snow flurries weather (thanks, Ohio...) - Then I would love to see it when the warmer temps decide to stick around!! The details to the landscaping with the rocks, mulch flowerbeds, stained wood with the pop of the white trimmings... The Patio! I so wish the weather would have cooperated for us to use the patio!! A fire pit, with wood provided for your fire - a table for outdoor dining - a hammock to lounge in - and beautifully stranded lights to set the mood just right... If the patio somehow isn't your thing, sip a cup of coffee from their beautiful front porch in one of their two rocking chairs! All with the very best country setting views to let your worries melt away!

The inside of the Sugar Pear Cottage, if you can believe it… is just as, if not even more beautiful than the outside! The woodworking against the fresh whites, the green splashes of color from their indoor plants, and all of the cozy furniture truly pull the look of the modern-country decor together - setting this cottage apart from the norm! The skylights throughout the cottage bring in so much natural light - and the bay window is the perfect spot for their plants to catch some extra sunshine too! We could have spent an entire lazy Sunday here snuggled up enjoying this cozy cottage!

We would highly recommend the Sugar Pear Cottage to everyone! Duane was great with communication - he even called to check in on us Sunday morning to see if we were enjoying our stay. They have put a lot of detail and love into their place here, and make sure their guests are taken care of! Go check out all of their reviews on airbnb as well! They currently hold a 5 star rating, and are considered Superhosts!
Of course we had to sign their guestbook that they had out on their desk as well! Such a sweet touch to see some of the handwritten signatures and reviews from the other guests before us too!
Before leaving town, we wanted to find somewhere to stop for coffee on the way home - but once we walked into Home and Brew by Misdiy, we decided to stay for coffee and some goodies too! This coffee shop is put together so well with the perfect atmosphere that just pulls you right in! The lighting inside as well as the natural lighting coming in through the big store front windows is so refreshing! The cozy bench pillows, hooks above to hang your coat or purse on, fresh flowers on every table, and plants surrounding too... I haven't even mentioned all of the cute decor to shop, it's dangerous for your wallet, haha! This is the perfect place to meet up with some friends, have a coffee date, or even come by yourself and grab a book from their little free library to read. Take a book and share a book! Nana and Papa really enjoyed the goodies that we brought back from here for them for watching our babies while we were gone too! <3
Home + Brew by Misdiy offers...

The bathroom in Home + Brew by Misdiy, what a great idea!! The entire bathroom is painted in chalkboard paint for guests to sign their names, draw pictures, or add inspirational quotes to! I was able to squeeze our blog name up there too!
Misty, the owner of Home + Brew by Misdiy was so kind to take the time to talk with us about her place, and the town too - and when we mentioned that we stayed at an airbnb listing, she knew all about Sugar Pear Cottage and mentioned Duane by name when we said that’s where we stayed! You have to love a good small town moment!
We then went on to talk about how coming into town the night before we stopped in at the
for a few drinks, and the chance to meet a few other locals at a local spot! Misty knew some of the locals that we met there by name as well! Everybody was so kind and welcoming - I even shared a dance with a kind fellow, who asked my husband, Tim for permission first! ;)

We can't wait to come back and explore some more of Malta and McConnelsville, Ohio!
We also wanted to take a moment to talk about someone we learned about during our visit to the area, Miss Kylyn. Coming into town we noticed a lot of purple balloons, some purple lights, some signs, and when we went into the River Queen Tavern - the staff was all wearing purple shirts as well! We asked about all of the purple, and they told us all about Kylyn. Kylyn is an 19 year old who was diagnosed with a rare diffuse midline glioma right after turning 18 years old and starting her first year of college. The most recent update from her family is that right now Kylyn is home, comfortable and with the people who love her the most. Kylyn has been admitted to hospice services with one of the best teams in the area (Shrivers Hospice) who will love and care for her like her own family, support her family, and help manage her symptoms. We ask that you keep Kylyn, her family, and this awesome community that has surrounded her with love in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time. You can follow along, and read back on Kylyn's journey here:
Sad to update that Kylyn passed last night, 3/30/22. Please remember her words,
