So very welcoming - c'mon in!
Peach Street Cottage
Check out our video walk through of the Peach Street Cottage below! You can also see just how close to town, and the water you are staying - not to mention all of the other fun activities Lakeside has to offer you!
So much Lakeside charm... We just loved the decor - Kristen, your host really knows what she is doing when it comes to setting the mood and vibe just right! Everything is just so cozy and inviting! Relaxing here is no issue at all - we felt right at home!! The only issue we had is that we didn't want to leave - and even then Kristen was so kind as to not have a strict checkout time for us since she knew her cleaners would not be in until the following day! This was perfect for us because after spending some time at the beach on Sunday, we were able to come back and get everyone showered before packing up to head home. It was much easier for us to enjoy the last bit of our time knowing that we didn't have any time constraints. I'm not telling you this will happen every time or for every guest - I'm only mentioning this to share with you the type of accommodating host that Kristen is, and how much we appreciated her generosity!
Check out this awesome porch for relaxing
Make sure to follow the Peach Street Cottage on facebook too!
Also be sure to checkout the Lakeside, OH website here for more info on the area in season and out of season!
Day 1 - Friday, September 16th:
What a beautiful sight to see on our way in to Lakeside - the sun setting over Sandusky Bay as we were crossing the Edison Bridge.
For dinner since we were getting into the area later in the evening - we decided to go with a solid choice for the kiddos to get their bellies full, and in bed sooner than later, haha! I'm so glad we decided to try Sloopy's Pizza - not only was the pizza great, but they also had these yummy lemonade drinks as well!
Check out their menu here:

After our late dinner we called it a night and headed to bed - and the beds did not disappoint either, so comfy!!
Day 2 - Saturday, September 17th:
First stop? If you've read any of our previous blogs, you know it's coffee, of course! Each new place we visit we always have to find a new local coffee shop to try! I feel that local coffee shops can say so much about the town that you are in - and Coffee and Cream did not disappoint! Everything was great, and I loved that they had a nice outdoor patio to sit at too! We even met a big friendly local doggy out there after we were done eating!

Lakeside Art Walk &
NIGHT MARKET
This was the first ever Lakeside Art Walk & Night Market, and we got to attend it! I hope they continue this and make it a tradition each year, because it really was great!! A very nice event for the community to enjoy and support local artists as well!
Here's our silly kiddos being silly before we did our vendor walkthroughs to check everything out! I said take a picture with the pretty flowers - they all three heard strike a pose and smile, haha! They even shouted, "Vacation!!" - think our adventures have them trained well? Haha!
Check out our video - and our cool puppet finds here:
After we did our vendor walk through, walking away with 3 really awesome puppets I might add - we walked over to the playground to play!
Check out all the fun below:
This playground really is great! We loved that it was enclosed with only one gate to get in, and several benches and a table available for parents to sit at too! The kids really liked the sandbox and sand toys already provided as well! Aside from the enclosed playground area, there was another big slide, more swings, basketball courts, a giant connect four, shuffleboard, tennis and pickleball, and putt putt available! There is just so much to do and enjoy at Lakeside!!
Next up,
everybody knows you can't come to the Lakeside Marblehead, OH area without stopping to visit the Marblehead Lighthouse! I grew up visiting Lake Erie, and all things surrounding it - so it certainly was not my first trip, but it is always a must stop no matter what! It is the oldest lighthouse in continuous operation on the American side of the Great Lakes. It has guided sailors safely along the rocky shores of the Marblehead Peninsula since 1822, and is an active aid to navigation. They Celebrated 200 years this year!

While we were here, we left the rock that we found at the Wawatam Lighthouse in St. Ignace, MI! If they ever see or read this blog, your rock traveled 5 hr 47 min, or 386.6 miles away! I wonder where it will travel to next!
After the visiting the lighthouse, Tim had to get ready to head over to the Sandusky High School. Part of the reason we were in town was so that he could adjudicate the percussion sections at their OMEA band competition. While he had the honor of getting to be there judging, the kids and I were able to relax back at the cottage while we waited for him to be done. Dinner for the kids was nice and convenient to have the option to Doordash some happy meals our way (because Tim needed to take the van to get to the Sandusky High School). It is good to note that Doordash deliveries are available to you at this address during your stay should you need something delivered! Tim got back to the cottage just in time to give all of the kiddos love before bed - and then it was Mama and Daddy time, which included ordering some yummy food to go from The Original Margaritaville, and watching the Ohio State Buckeyes defeat Toledo 77-21! The perfect ending to a fun but busy day! :)

Day 3 - Sunday, September 18th:
First up,
After having my morning coffee, we went and got more coffee... because, kids - HAHA!! Kidding... sort of! We mainly stopped in here to grab a quick bite to eat for breakfast, and we heard all about their delicious Quiche that they make here at the Victory Coffee & Company! It did not disappoint - so yummy!! The kids all loved their double chocolate muffins, cinnamon roll, and mixed berry smoothies as well!

We promised the kiddos some more playground time after breakfast since we all had so much fun there yesterday! As I mentioned before, this playground really is great!!Tim and I loved getting to watch and play with the kids - and the view of the lake in the background with the nice lake breeze blowing in... so relaxing for us - and it wears the kiddos out too, score!!
After all of our fun at the playground, we were hungry for lunch. We decided on Crabby Joe's Dockside - and it was great! We had the perfect weather for sitting dockside while we ate our lunch. The kids really enjoyed getting to see all of the boats that were docked, and being docked beside us! The food and drinks were really yummy too!!

After lunch we headed back to the cottage to change into our swimsuits - who would have thought that on September 18th we would have still had some beach weather left to soak up! The kiddos all loved splashing around and playing in the sand!
Check out our video from the beach below:
As I previously mentioned, Kristen was so kind as to not have a strict checkout time for us, so after the beach we were able to come back and get everyone showered before packing up to head home. We really didn't want to have to leave... we love being near the lake, and Kristen's place is just the sweetest little lake cottage. Perfect for what we needed, and we felt right at home! The only thing helping us get on our way was knowing we were stopping to get ice cream on our way out of town!! Brown's Dairy Dock is a must stop anytime we are in town!! As I mentioned previously, I grew up visiting Lake Erie - camping and boating, and each time we would come to visit the lake, we had to get our ice cream fix at Brown's Dairy Dock! Best known for their fresh peach and fresh strawberry sundaes - so so yummy!! I would have provided a picture... but we just couldn't wait to dig in, haha!!

I love this shot of the Peach Street Cottage just after the sun was setting over the lake!
Also, I just have to say... how incredibly jealous I was/am of this giant OSU squirrel statue that we saw within the Lakeside community! I LOVE squirrels, and the Buckeyes of course too! I was so close to knocking on their door to find out how I can get one!! We also saw SO many squirrels running around throughout the entire weekend too! Just leaving the cottage and exiting the Lakeside community we counted around 40 squirrels. They made me so very happy - all weekend long!! So if you love squirrels like me, Lakeside is definitely the place for you to come visit too, haha!!
Until next time Lakeside! Thank you so much for the great weekend full of memories with our kiddos! It was a great end to our adventures for Summer 2022!!
