For those that don't know, my husband Tim is a BIG lemon drop shot/and or drink fan - so of course when I saw a local distillery that specializes in limoncello while browsing through the groupon app, I had to grab that deal!!
You can grab that same deal here:
During the tour of the distillery, visitors can learn how various types of hand-crafted liquors are made! We were actually seated in the back with all of the equipment where it is made. We then were presented with a PowerPoint, and allowed to ask any questions about the process of how everything is made, and why/how it is done!
We then went through each of the tastings here:
Everything was so good, and smooth - but of course our favorite was the limoncello!! It was fantastic!! It doesn't have a syrupy taste like a lot of cellos do sometimes - very good!! We ended up tasting a few others in their front lobby, and went home with 3 different bottles! A Limoncello, Orangecello, and a Dark Cherry Whiskey!
They even have some of their drink recipes listed on their website here too!
Cello Lemondrop
The Recipe:
2 ounces limoncello
1 ounce vodka
½ ounce fresh squeezed lemon juice
ice enough to fill cocktail shaker ⅔ up
lemon slice
¼ cup sugar for rim
Instructions:
Pour a thin layer of sugar onto a small plate ( just larger than the rim of your martini glass.) I use a bread plate and about ¼ cup of sugar. Prepare martini glass by lightly rubbing the rim with the fleshy wet part of a cut lemon to dampen it, then dip the moistened rim of the glass into the sugar, gently shaking off any excess. Combine all ingredients except for sugar in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously. Strain into the prepared martini glass. Garnish with a slice of lemon and serve immediately.
